Question of the Week!
Q: HI, my question is what the heck can I do with the 1000's
of digital photos I have on my computer. Over
the years I have used various digital cameras
from Sony to Canon and have built up a large
collection of pictures. Now my dedicated hard
drive is about to get full and want to do something
so I don't have to get another one. What can
you suggest.

A: HI
Heather,
Your situation is not that uncommon.
In fact I was dealing with this earlier in the
year. While I was at a trade show I stopped at
a Sony booth that
was showing off thier latest digital cameras.
While learning about the new gadgets the gentelman
told me about a new online digital photo service
called 'ImageStation'. This naturally caught
my attention because I'm a regular for another
Sony product called 'PlayStation'. You may have
heard of that. Ok, anyway the basic theme behind
ImageStation is this: Upload - Share - Create.
I'll go over each.
Upload:
Ok remember that storage issue you asked about.
Well here is a free solution for storage.
They do not charge for storing unlimited
images on thier servers. Yes, theirs.
Share:
You
can create online albums that you
can share with your family or friends. This
part is really cool. You can make an
album based on your trip to Vegas and
then send a web url to your family via
email and they can watch that slideshow
from their PC's. You can also view the photos on
a capable mobile phone or PSP.
Create:
If you have a want or a need, you can create
Photo Books, Calendars, Cards, T-Shirts,
Mugs, Mousepads, and more based on your
photos. Also you can order prints for about .12
that you can pick up locally.

One
last suggestion I can offer is to make your
own Slideshows on DVD's. Using a software
that can make these will allow you to edit,
add effects, add music, etc.. to your own
slideshow presentation. Yes these will be
actual DVD's that can be played back on DVD
players. I like to use
PhotoDVD 2.0. Download
it here and see how you like it .
I
hope this gets you where you want to go with
your digital pics. Thanks for writing in.
